Good News Everyone!

Futurama’s Back !!

ALTThe thing is, it premiered yesterday but I was to busy to put it here :p Futurama, the show that watches back, is returning to television with brand-spanking new episodes for Comedy Central. And actual episodes, not made-for-DVD movies split up into pieces.

Much like Fry’s dog Seymour, Futurama is getting another shot at life. Matt Groening’s Simpson’s follow-up originally aired on Fox, but was canceled in 2003 after 4 seasons. After cancellation, the show went on to become a cult hit, due to frequent late-night airings on Adult Swim. Comedy Central obtained the rights to the show in 2008, and commissioned 4 new made-for-DVD films. The success of these films led Comedy Central to commission a full season’s worth of episodes for the series, bringing back many of the original writers, and after some deliberation, the entire original cast.

While I don’t think the DVD films lived up to the heights of the original TV show (except for maybe Bender’s Big Score, and parts of The Beast With A Billion Backs) I’m excited to see what the crew can do when they’re back with the classic half-hour format. Futurama, when it’s at its best, has some of the funniest, smartest, and even most touching writing on television, with jokes about the Observer effect and BASIC and episodes like ‘Jurassic Bark’ (if anyone tells you they didn’t cry while watching that, they’re lying.)

Odds are, if this isn’t your first time on the internet, you know about Futurama. And if this is your first time on the internet, howdy! Keep your head down and watch out for porn. If you’re new to the show for whatever reason, this is the perfect time to jump in and figure out why people are always saying WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY and what the hell the Hypnotoad is.

If you can’t wait any longer to get a glimpse at Fry, Leela, and Bender (and Zoidberg!), here’s the first 90 seconds of the Futurama premiere, from yesterday xD

‘True Blood’ Renewed for Fourth Season

ALTHBO continues to show who’s boss in terms of phenomenal television programming, as Michael Ausiello reports the network has renewed ‘True Blood’ for a fourth season. It will premiere in the summer of 2011.

Just two episodes in to the third season, it’s a relief to see how studio executives and members of the cast are looking to keep this good thing going as long as possible…especially since we’ve grown to depend on Sookie, Bill, and the writers have taken our cravings for sex and vampires and made them publicly acceptable. It’s also hard to imagine what could possibly happen in the fourth season since we’ve just barely tapped into the third one, but it’s a relief to hear we can continue to sit back, relax, and continue enjoyig the southern drawl without worrying it’s going anywhere.

Of the renewal, producer Alan Ball said, “I am beyond thrilled to continue working with this amazing cast and crew. This is the most fun I have ever had.” Luckily for him, the feeling’s pretty mutual.

Mekia Cox Joins Undercovers

ALTMekia Cox is joining the cast of J.J. Abrams’ hotly anticipated new series, Undercovers. Cox, who recently appeared in the 90210 remake, is replacing Jessica Parker Kennedy in a supporting role.

Undercovers tells the story of a pair of married ex-CIA agents who get drawn back into the spy life. Cox will play ‘Lizzy’, the sister of the female lead (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who has no idea of her family’s secret agent past.

Undercovers will premiere on NBC this fall.

Yayy! I’m back, and still tired as hell! Anyway got a LOAD of stuff to put here (damn you E3!!) God I need a rest…

Also on other news, I just won a contest for an Alan Wake copy!!! YAYYY, maybe I will start to participate more in these things.

The Cleveland Show Gets Third Season

ALTFox announced today that The Cleveland Show, the Family Guy spinoff based on Peter Griffin’s neighbor, has been renewed for a third season.  The animated series  was this season’s highest-rated half-hour program among teens and adults 18-34, despite being labeled “Family Guy in blackface” by at least one critic.

Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, executive produces The Cleveland Show with Mike Henry, who helps write and contributes voice work, along with Rich Appel.  The spinoff also features voiceovers from Sanaa Lathan, Reagan Gomez, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Jason Sudeikis, as well as Arianna Huffington, curiously, in a recurring role as a Greek bear.

So, yes.  This is good news for people who like The Cleveland Show, and apparently, there are a lot of you.  Although I’ve personally never watched either this show, I’m happy for those of you who have!  While I’ve somehow managed to bumble through life without meeting a single one of you, I am sure that you are good people :p

NEW TRUE BLOOD TRAILER!! ZOMG!!!

one comment: jizz in my pants!!! :p this is funny if you know the music obviously.

Ok so just so you know, I’m hetero, not gay, but I like this series, A LOT, I started seeing them last year, and soon finished, for me it’s the only series where the vampires don’t shine in the sun, the werewolves aren’t some gayish indians and everything makes sense, ALSO the girl isn’t annoying like hell :p

So yeah I like it, and I’m excited.

Glee’s Lynch Gets Hitched

Jane LynchActress Jane Lynch married her fiancee, psychologist Lara Embry in a private ceremony this Monday in Massachusetts.

Lynch, who is best known as the outrageously evil Glee villain Sue Sylvester, has had a long career on stage and in film, getting her start with Chicago’s Second City improv group and appearing in Best In Show and The 40 Year Old Virgin. While Lynch and Embry live in California, the pair was forced to wed in Massachusetts after the controversial Proposition 8 made same-sex marriage illegal in California.

The actress has not released a statement to the press about her wedding, but the staff of the Blue Heron restaurant where the event was held spilled the beans. Restaurant co-owner Deborah Snow told reporters that the reception “was small, warm, intimate and very sweet. You could feel the love and friendship amongst the group.” – Hollywood.com

Homer Simpson Greatest TV/Film Character Of Last 20 Years!!!

Homer Simpson

Have you ever parked your car in your living room or dropped a nuclear rod in your underpants and wondered, “what would Homer do?” It turns out you are not alone. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now know that the head of The Simpsons’ household is the most recognizable and greatest character created for TV and Film of the last 20 years.

The star character of long-running U.S. cartoon series beat schoolboy wizard Harry Potter and vampire slayer Buffy to take top place in the survey for Entertainment Weekly. The programs creator, Matt Groening, had the following explanation when asked about his creation’s resonance in pop-culture: “People can relate to Homer because we’re all secretly propelled by desires we can’t admit to. Homer is launching himself head-first into every single impulsive thought that occurs to him. His love of whatever…is a joy to witness”

English schoolboy turned wizard Harry Potter, described as a “global icon”, came in at a close second, while Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy wound up in third, with Tony Soprano gunning close behind at fourth and Heath Ledger’s Joker rounding out the top five. The rest of the top 10 is comprised of a mixed bag of characters from across the media landscape, including Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel Green from Friends, Edward Scissorhands, Hannibal Lecter (as played be Sir Anthony Hopkins), Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City, and cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants. The list of the top 100 characters was released on Monday to mark the 20th anniversary of Entertainment Weekly.

Smells fishy to me. Homer Simpson and Tony Soprano in the same category as Spongebob Squarepants and RACHEL? If you ask me, this wasn’t as much a “reader’s poll” as it was a water-cooler topic of conversation at the EW offices, one that noticeably excludes all characters of color. Sure, cartoons mix it up a bit, but wow, talk about white-washed…

Michael Bay To Take On Turtles!!! YATA!!!

ALTFilm director and explosion lover Michael Bay is set to produce a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot with his studio, Platinum Dunes. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form will also produce, and have begun meeting with writers. Turtles will be the first foray into action for Platinum Dunes, the studio responsible for horror remakes Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and this year’s Nightmare on Elm Street.

The Turtles have been subject to a number of reboots and reimaginings since their initial adaptation from comics to TV in 1987, most recently in 4Kids animated series that ran through 2009. No word yet on what incarnation the film will stay closest to, but odds are they’ll to a try to appeal to the audience of the original 80′s cartoon by laying on the nostalgia.

It’s easy to see why Bay’s studio bought the rights to the film, as he has extensive personal experience adapting childhood cartoon favorites by making them as terrible as is humanly possible. Personally, we’re hoping that the film goes for a “dark” and “gritty” reinterpretation because, honestly, they’re turtles. Turtles named after renaissance artists. There’s no way to take this stuff seriously, and trying to do so will make the film hilariously bad. And if it ends up hilariously bad, at least it will be entertaining, as opposed to Bay’s other work which is just straight dull. Still, it’s sad to see Michael Bay try his hardest to outpace George Lucas as childhood-rapist of the decade. It’s not a race, you guys ;) oh well, at least I love Ninja Turtles, I used to see the cartoons you know? :p

‘Glee’ Gets Third Season Order!!JACKPOT!

Gleeks Unite!

Glee's Jane LynchSource:  THR

Good news, Gleeks – Fox is so confident in the precious musical / drama that it has ordered a third season of the show – even before the second season goes on the air.  The announcement comes in advance of next Tuesday’s season finale and in time for upfront week, when the major television networks release their Fall 2010 schedules in the hopes of piquing potential advertiser’s interest.

Peter Rice, chairman of entertainment at Fox was ebullient: “In just one year, Glee has transcended the television landscape and emerged as a global pop culture phenomenon,” he said recently. “We are incredibly proud to have talent like [executive producer] Ryan Murphy and the “Glee” cast in our Fox family, and we can’t wait to see where Ryan takes the show in seasons two and three.”Rice has reason to be excited: thanks in part to an American Idol lead-in, Glee has become the most-watched new scripted show this year – making it a huge boon for both Fox and its advertisers.  That means more of Jane Lynch’s perfect deadpan as Sue Sylvester and – I can only hope – more Neil Patrick Harris cameos (please?) as Will Schuester’s nemesis Bryan Ryan.  OK, so maybe you think Glee is clichéd or even anti-feminist, but at the very least it shows that there are still some fresh ideas left in television. Who would have thought that what is essentially a musical could nab such good ratings?  And if Glee means one less indistinguishable crime drama on television, then I say that’s a good thing.  Love it or hate it, don’t expect the slew of cheesy pop songs, ballads, and 80s music video parodies to subside any time soon (ahahahha xD)

Smallville’s Tenth Season Will Be It’s Last..

SmallvilleSource: Hollywood Life

After years of boring some with stories of a faux Man of Steel and enthralling others with Gossip Girl-styled drama involving some of DC Comics fabled characters, The CW will announce tomorrow that it’s long running superhero show Smallville will finally hang up it’s red, blue and yellow spand — oops, I forgot, Tom Welling’s Clark never got to wear Superman’s iconic costume!

The news comes as the show ends its ninth, and reportedly best, season. Welling spilled the beans to Hollywood Life at a party honoring the release of power producer Jerry Weintraub’s new book, “When I Stop Talking You’ll Know I’m Dead” at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills, Calif. May 18.

The news doesn’t come a day too soon. Smallville is a mockery of the World’s Greatest Hero and the DC Universe in general – and it always has been. The fact that Clark Kent has recently been running around dressed like Neo and calling himself The Blur is offensive to die-hard fans of the Last Son of Krypton and of the long running film series, as has every other element of the show, from teenagers running the Daily Planet to the non-existent character of Chloe (Alison Mack) – a figure created for the express purpose of soaping up the story of Superman. Good Riddance!

Cancellations and Renewals…

… ‘FlashForward,’ ‘Chuck,’ More

FlashForwardComedy Central’s cancellation of The Sarah Silverman Program on Wednesday came just before a flurry of higher-profile series were axed.

ABC’s FlashForwardBetter Off Ted and Scrubs have all ben canceled, according to EW.com, while Deadline.com reports that Fox’s The Wanda Sykes Show will not be returning for a second season.

In much happier news, fans of NBC’s Chuck and ABC’s V can breathe a sigh of relief as both shows have been renewed.

All six episodes of Bright Falls now available online!!

If you’re hoping to get acquainted with the world of Alan Wake before the game’s extremely imminent release, you may want to watch the six-part mini-series Bright Falls, all of which is now available on Machinima’s YouTube channel. Regardless of whether or not you understand a lick of what transpires during the Twin Peaks-esque series, it’s still a really well-made tie-in, and gives a great sense of the unsettling environments the titular Wake will be exploring…sooooo GO GET IT =D

Now really it’s really good for a mini-series, and in my opinion better than the Assassins Creed one, which i found a little bit boring, this will get you confused and you wont get anything :p just kidding, it’s really good.

Bright Falls – Episodes:

What The Bright Falls – Episodes Analysis

WTBF episodes still haven’t come out, well the ones corresponding to episode 4, 5 and 6 obviously so when they come out I will be sure to post them here too ^^

Alan Wake live action series

My brother yesterday came up to me talkin’ about this, and so I went to check them up, and I can say you, this is the most thriller mini-series I’ve ever seen, I shit you not.

Microsoft announced that Bright Falls will be premiering on Xbox Live. Bright Falls a six part prequel mini series that will set-up the story in the game. I watched the first two episodes and am instantly left scratching my head. This is a web based series so the production isn’t all that great but the events that have taken place are incredibly eerie.

I’m impressed with Microsoft expanding the story of Alan Wake, in fact it would be great if more games produced mini series like this. Hopefully if all goes well this idea will set standards for strong marketing for games.

Apparently the limited edition of the game comes with a short book which will tie in these prequel episodes and the events that take place in the game. Anyone that enjoys games with stories should seriously consider this game. Those of you that are Gold Xbox Live members login and watch the first two episodes. Everyone else head on over to BrightFalls.

Is Steve Carell Leaving The Office?

Steve CarellSource: The Boston Globe

Say it ain’t so Steve! In what will surely be devastating news to loyal Dunder-Mifflin (a Sabre company) followers, The Boston Globe is reporting that The Office lead actor Steve Carell, who has played Scranton branch manager Michael Scott since the show made it across the Atlantic, may be leaving the Emmy winning sitcom after his contract expires at the end of next season.

In a recent interview with the BBC, the 47-year-old funny man replied to inquiries about further involvement with the show after his contract ends with the following: “I don’t think so. I think that will probably be my last year.”

Major bummer. Though there aren’t many other details regarding Carell’s potential departure, one can assume that the show may not have legs without its star. Sure, there are other hilarious characters and subplots that can be explored further, including Jim and Pam’s adventures in parenting, the blossoming romance between Andy and Erin, Darryl’s advancement in the company, etc. but even long time fans like myself will admit that it is hard to imagine the show retaining the majority of it’s fan base without it’s prized star.

Do you think that The Office will continue to prosper without Steve Carell? Tell me what you think! (once in a while a comment will be nice :p just kiddin’)

“Giant “Rainbow” Killing”!!!

So I started seeing this two animes, “Giant Killing” and “Rainbow”, where the title of them has nothing to do with the theme, it has a meaning but people get the wrong idea when they hear the names, Giant Killing is about soccer xD didn’t expect that did you? :p and Rainbow is..i can’t explain it very well but you’ll see.

Giant Killing

In Giants Killing a ragtag bunch from East Tokyo are struggling in Japan’s top football league. The team is going through an abysmal spell right now where they are nearing the bottom of the table and have lost 5 matches in a row. The loses haven’t done much to team moral, because it was already low. Fan support, on the other hand, is looking bleak. In the world of football, once the fans turn on a team the end is near. Teams don’t recover. Coaches are fired, players are sold, and teams drop to smaller divisions where profits often prevent them from ever being successful against even mediocre top division programs. East Tokyo United, ETU, can only blame their coach right now. And now, the next coach of the team is Tatsumi, a former player of ETU who abodened the team for an overseas club, which made the fans hate him due to him being the starplayer of the team, now after even coaching an English team he’s back to prove to his team and fans, that even against the biggest club in the nation he can make this team win.

Rainbow

Around 10 years after World War II, a group of delinquents are sent to the Shounan Special Reform School to learn how to cope with the atrocities and unfairness they encounter there. A student who has already been residing there when the teens arrived acts as a mentor, teaching them about friendship and guiding them through difficulties they face and teached them hwo to surprass them.

P.S. Couldn’t find trailers so had to put the openings, to really know the animes I recommend seeing them, they are great ;)

Men are from Mars, Women are from VenusSource: Summit Entertainment

After taking home Oscars at this years Academy Awards and breaking box-office records this past winter, Summit Entertainment is continuing to expand its slate with the lucrative acquisition of the Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus franchise, based on the book series written by John Gray, Ph.D. The deal covers worldwide film and television rights to the series, which includes more than a dozen titles.

Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Production, stated, “‘Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus’ is not just the title of a book, or what we know will become an amazing film and TV franchise – it is a pop cultural mainstay and comically, sadly, romantically, all too often still true these many years after first being published. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work on a franchise whose name everyone knows and whose reality everyone lives!”

Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, partners in BermanBraun, stated, “‘Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus’ is the most enduring relationship franchise in the world and the Rosetta Stone for understanding the opposite sex. While men and women may never truly speak the same language, we’re thrilled to explore their perpetually hilarious, painful and romantic conflicts on the big screen.”

The book series “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” assesses marital and relationship problems in terms of distinct and pervasive gender differences. The Mars-Venus series has sold over 50 million books in 45 territories worldwide. “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” is the #1 bestselling book of the last decade and the #1 relationship book of all time. It was on The New York Times Bestseller List for nearly seven years and is #6 on USA Today’s list of the 25 Most Influential Books. In addition to his publishing success, Dr. Gray’s video/DVD lecture series has earned over $100 million.

Marvel Taps Joss Whedon to Helm Avengers Flick…

…for some reason?

Ignoring a clear record of underperforming TV and film projects, Marvel has hired Serenity director and Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon to helm the big-screen adaptation of The Avengers, Deadline.com revealed today. The legendary superhero ensemble, which debuted in 1963 with founding members Ant-Man, Wasp, Iron Man, Thor, and The Hulk, is currently slated to assemble on the big screen with a somewhat tweaked lineup in May 2012, barring a Mayan apocalypse.

With The Avengers, Whedon, most recently known for the web series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, faces his biggest challenge yet: How to transform a guaranteed blockbuster into a generally well-regarded but largely unprofitable cult favorite? It seems impossible, but I have no doubt he’ll rise to the occasion.

The news comes on the heels of Marvel’s recent announcement that Chris Evans has been chosen to play Captain America in Joe Johnston’s adaptation of that hit title. Expect to see Evans in Whedon’s Avengers as well. And expect to find me nowhere near the multiplex when it opens. – By Thomas Leupp , Hollywood.com Staff

Fox Who?! Conan Headed to TBS!!!

On the same day reports were emerging that Conan O’Brien’s talks with Fox had possibly hit a snag, the former Tonight Show host has made a decision — to go to TBS!

In a very surprising move, O’Brien has spurned network TV for basic cable, according to a press release issued Monday.

O’Brien had this to say: “In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I’m headed to basic cable … My plan is working perfectly.”

His new late-night show will debut in November and will be followed at midnight by Lopez Tonight on the TBS schedule. – Hollywood.com
