Harmonix details Rock band 3’s guitar controller

rock band 3

Harmonix has explained how the new guitar peripheral for Rock Band 3 works.

Apparently, an in-game trainer that shows chord shapes and numbering on screen allows you to learn the chords while the playing along to the song.

Any chords which aren’t relevant to the song are blanked out, making it easy for you to understand which strings you should be using.

Harmonix explained that it can’t actually play harmonic notes (ironix that harmonix doesn’t let u do harmonics :p) with the guitar, as the game has to read what you are doing with your left hand; the only way it can do this is by you pushing the strings down with the fret.

Watch and learn through the video below.

Rock Band 3’s out later this year.

Rock Band 3: 5 minutes of video, interviews, keyboard, details!!

It’s a keyboard. With a nob on the side of it.

Scheduled to see Rock Band 3 at E3 next week? Now you don’t have to! USA today’s published a large video of the game, showing off the new keyboard, drop-in gameplay, confirmation of full backwards compatibility and more.

Just watch it. Looks cool. It’s out this year.

Developer Harmonix announced last night a deal with guitar maker Fender to create a real six-string guitar that works with the game, which is modeled after the Fender Stratocaster, and its all-new Pro Mode.

In your face, Jack White!

You can get more at DToid, where there’s also a more detailed look at the instruments of the game and its prices.

Finally, there’s the release of the debut trailer for the game. It looks properly awesome, so go give it a watch.

Guitars for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock are mental!!

Has it honestly come to this? It seemingly has. Activision’s revealed the new line-up of guitars that will launch alongside Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.

The guitars this time will consist only of the standard neck buttons and the fret board. Yes, the touch sensitive pad from Guitar Hero: World Tour is gone. I wonder why *wink wink*

As for the weird wacky designs of the guitar, they are actually customizable, with more designs available to buy at retailers like GameStop in the US. But you can wish to play the guitar on its own without the designs.

If you don’t want to go spending on a new guitar, though, Warriors of Rock is fully BC compatible with previous guitars in the series.

The game was formally announced on Friday, with the first batch of songs confirmed for it including Muse, Jane’s Addiction, ZZ Top and more. A trailer was also released as well.

I have to say…as how much I don’t like Guitar Hero, this is coming out really nice, hope they don’t ruin it ;)

DJ Hero 2 formally announced for fall

djhero2

Activision’s just formally announced DJ Hero 2 for a fall release on Xbox 360, Wii and PS3.

Artists involved include Lady Gaga, The Chemical Brothers, Dr. Dre, Metallica and more. Over 85 musicians will be involved with the game, with 70 mashups in total to be included.

It comes as it was revealed that a remix from the game was used as a free DLC taster for the original game, involving Lady Gaga’s Just Dance and Deadmau5’s Ghosts ‘N Stuff on Xbox Live Marketplace, which was on offer until yesterday. That deal has now restarted as of today, and is available until Monday on XBMP and PSN.

All new multiplayer modes have also been announced for the sequel, such as DJ Battles, which sees one player battle another in mixes “produced specifically for battle gameplay” while vocalists can also be involved with the mode in drop in/drop scenarios by singing or rapping.

Power Gig announced for October with Eric Clapton and a drum peripheral

powergig

Seven45 Studios’ band game Power Gig: Rise of the SixString, has been given an October release, and not only that, but the studio’s announced that Eric Clapton, Dave Matthews Band, and Kid Rock will be exclusive to it.

The firm has also revealed its new AirStrike Drum Controller peripheral, which looks interesting to say the least.

The AirStrike drum controller has two drumsticks and a small unit that rests by one’s feet that features a technology that can “differentiate the right drumstick from the left”, allowing players to play “more true-to-life than the drum game peripherals already on the market”.

“We know that people may be skeptical of the AirStrike drums at first glance when they see there’s no actual drums and can’t understand how that’s a match to our SixString guitar which is a fully-functioning electric guitar,” said Seven45 Studios CEO, Bernard Chiu.

“But we also know that as soon as people sit down to play it, they are going to see how much more real and authentic it feels to be moving much the same way true drummers do when they play, without the limits of the drum kits already on the market. Just like our guitars, the AirStrike drums are a step forward for authenticity in the band game genre.”

Power Gig: Rise of the Six String was announced earlier in the year and what makes it standout from other games in the music genre, is that its peripherals are actual playable instruments.

The guitar, called the Six String is an electric guitar that recognizes the player’s fingers on the strings during game mode, which incorporates cues like you would see in any other music game.

When not playing the “game”, you can plus the instrument into an amp and rock out like with any other electric guitar.

All of Power Gig’s instrument peripherals are compatible with the major music videogames currently available, and will be playable at E3 along with a  microphone peripheral.

The only thing I want better is music :/ the rest is great, I’m really anxious for this game, my excuse to finally have an electric guitar =D

Green Day: Rock Band demo teases keyboards for RB3!!!

greendayrockband

Harmonix has released a demo over on XBL for Green Day: Rock Band on Xbox Live. Good news, that.

On top of that though, at the end of the demo is a tease for Rock Band 3 – which just so happens to show a keyboard icon.

Included with the keyboard icon, is one showing three mics – which suggests three-part harmonies won’t stop with The Beatles: Rock Band.

Keyboards for music games have been wanted by some for quite a while, but considering there’s 10 scales on an actual piano, we’re wondering how Harmonix plans on making this work.

Green Day: Rock Band hits the US on June 8 and the UK on June 11.

MTV has responded to our inquiry over the keyboard icon, stating that at this time it doesn’t “have anything to announce”, but instead we should “stay tuned for news about Rock Band 3 at E3″. Awesome. Keyboards. FTW. Probably.

Robert Pattinson as Kurt Cobain…

Robert PattinsonFile this under “Really Unconfirmed” rumor give that The Sun is reporting it, but Robert Pattinson is rumored to have landed the role of grunge legend, Kurt Cobain in David Fincher’s upcoming biopic, All Apologies.

Scarlett Johansson is also rumored to have landed the role of Courtney Love, Cobain’s wife and lead singer of the band, Hole.

We have a really hard time buying into this one but it was too good not to mention. It’s hard to imagine Pattinson having the range to pull off the angst of the troubled icon or Johansson not bathing for a few weeks to allow for the perfect amount of grime needed to play Love. Stranger things have happened? No.. no we don’t think they have. Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love

Kurt Cobain was the lead singer and writer of the seminal 90′s band, Nirvana. The troubled musician had long battled heroine addiction and shot himself in 1994 in the couple’s Seattle home. Cobain and Love had one child, Frances Bean, who is said to be friends with Johannson.

David Fincher is the director of films such as Fight ClubSe7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. – Hollywood.com

OH HELL NOOOOOOOOO!!! I think I just died inside…one of the greatest legends of this world being done by Pattinson..oh god no…

I’m not gonna say Robert Pattinson is a bad actor in fact he’s a great actor, even in the Twilight movies he did a great job impersonating the character from the book, what I don’t like from Twilight is Bella, but that’s a whole different story, he plays the piano and guitar and in every movie he’s done he did a great job, and he sings too, if you go check the Twilight Soundtrack he has two songs there and sings nice, but I just can’t see him as one of my music idols, I just can’t..

I really but really don’t want to see them doing this…so who do you think that in your opinion should play these roles? Say in the comments below :p

Scott Dunbar One Man Band…

This guy is simply awesome…continue with the good work!

What a headache!!

…But it was for a good cause

I can not imagine the noise that should be in there … Think of 582 drummers playing at the same time! This feat was accomplished in Birmigham – England where the world record of musicians playing simultaneously was beaten. Besides the action, the event also aimed to raise funds for an NGO.

Pure talent…

…some are just born with it….others work really hard

Green Day: Rock Band gets full American Idiot album

american idiot

Buying Green Day: Rock Band come summer? Good news for you, then: American Idiot will be included in its entirety.

And we mean the full nine-track album that includes Jesus of Suburbia, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and more in full, and not just the song “American Idiot”.

The album will be the first to be included in a retail Rock Band game ever since the series’ inception in 2007.

“We wanted to have the entire ‘American Idiot’ album in the game,”project lead, Chris Foster, told G4. “It’s like one album that’s meant to be heard and played as one unit. So you have the ability to do that. It’s the first time we’ve shipped any game with a full album involved in it.”

Green Day: Rock Band releases on June 8 worldwide for PS3, 360 and Wii. – Vg247

As a fan of Green Day and Rockband I’m excited for this game ^^

People may be saying Green Day sucks and they’re gone commercial and stuff like that, try creating a band, quite easy isn’t it, now try appealing to most of the world, can quite do that can you? I rest my case. In fact I didn’t like their last album as much as the previous but this Rockband will include the previous ones which will be awesome, so yay.

Slipknot – Snuff

Beautiful music, completely different from the rest of what they’ve done and so completely underrated by Slipknot fans. Lyrics are something unbelievable, its beautiful…

Bury all your secrets in my skin
Come away with innocence and leave me with my sins
The air around me still feels like a cage
And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again

So if you love me let me go
And run away before I know
My heart is just too dark to care
I can?t destroy what isn?t there

Deliver me into my fate
If I?m alone I cannot hate
I don?t deserve to have you
Ooh, my smile was taken long ago
If I can change I hope I never know

I still press your letters to my lips
And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss
I couldn?t face a life without your lights
But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight

So save your breath, I will not care
I think I made it very clear
You couldn?t hate enough to love
Is that supposed to be enough?

I only wish you weren?t my friend
Then I could hurt you in the end
I never claimed to be a saint
Ooh, my own was banished long ago
It took the death of hope to let you go

So break yourself against my stones
And spit your pity in my soul
You never needed any help
You sold me out to save yourself

And I won?t listen to your shame
You ran away, you?re all the same
Angels lie to keep control
Ooh, my love was punished long ago
If you still care don?t ever let me know
If you still care don?t ever let me know

The video is a short film Slipknot decided to make.

Queens Of The Stone Age – Go With The Flow

One of the most wicked videoclips i’ve ever seen, and it reminds me of a game called “WET” xD that had some parts in this way too. The music is great too :P

A Masterpiece Collection

As i mentioned on the previous post (again, i’m starting to make a chain of previous posts related XD ahahah), while i was saying masterpiece i remember that i’ve been hearing an album called “A Masterpiece Collection”, it’s classical music (and yes i hear classical music in spite of hearing from Avenged Sevenfold to Gogol Bordello, my music taste is very big, and classical music is the best there is to study and relax ;) ), it has the best composions by the best composers from Albeniz to Williams and the rest of the alphabet between ^^ ahahah. I recommend it, if you want that kind of music ;)

Gogol Bordello!!!!

My brother just showed me the BEST GIPSY PUNK band ever!!!! Gogol Bordello, they’re madness, i so must go see them live!! Some of you may not like them it’s completely normal because its kind of gipsy music but man i so wanna see them live, these guys were born for live shows!! They’re wicked, the most wicked band i’ve ever seen, they have accordion, violin, acoustic guitar, bass and drums all together!!! Here are some videos for you to get funky :P

Grunge…

Right now I’m going through a grunge fase, and only now I’ve noticed how great it really is (or maybe I’m just mad xD). I have been listening to Pearl Jam (my favorite band ever), Nirvana (hail Kurt Cobain), Alice in Chains and much more. Grunge will never die.

Some phrases from one of the best music geniuses (Kurt Cobain) that really mean something to me and should be remembered:

I’d rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

The worst crime is faking it.

Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.

Song lyric…

To anyone who went to see my old blog you could notice the last post was a song lyric i wrote (dedicated to my girlfriend hihi ^^), the lyric it’s kind of big so i’m not gonna put it all in here, just a bit for u to see how it’s like, if you want i can email you the rest. If you use it anywhere please give me the right credits for it, thank you :) . It’s called “Across the stars” (by André Simões :P )

It’s just you and I

Together in the sky

We will fly

And nothing can stop us by

You take me to the moon

To the sun and to mars

You take me…to all of the stars

I can see it in your eyes

A promise to the skies

Whatever you want to do

I will make it true

Lay your heart next to mine

We have never been so alive

In the stars we will stay
